Transitions
Dear Mama,
It’s ok to feel it all today, on this first day of school:
The excitement and anticipation of new beginnings.
The sadness of endings.
The hope and held breath that it will all go well.
The trust; that they are ready.
The realization, that time is passing; and quickly.
The wanting it all to slow down; so you can hold onto it a little longer.
The possibility of a new experience; for them and for you.
The uncertainty, as you find your footing again.
The appreciation, for a more structured season.
This is the duality we all hold as mothers; the bittersweetness of nurturance and letting go.
As strong, steady, loving witnesses of a life unfolding and taking flight.
This thread is what connects so many of us in a shared understanding; an unspoken knowing that we are not alone.
May you honour all that comes up for you today as evidence of what it means to love another so completely.
May you give it space to crack your heart ever wider and bring you deeper into this human experience.
